Ed Sheeran plans an entire additional year’s worth of touring

ABC/Paula LoboA tongue-in-cheek interview with Ed Sheeran’s puppet lookalike — the one who starred in his videos for “Sing” and “Happier” — reveals that the singer plans to be on the road for a very very long time.

In the interview, puppet Ed, which Ed himself voices, discusses his latest single, “Happier,” and filming the video for it. He notes, “It’s quite complicated having a man’s hand shoved up your [butt] the whole time, but I got around that, you know? I feel like we made a good video.”

Discussing what inspired “Happier,” puppet Ed says, “It was a situation I was in where I saw someone that I used to be with and they seemed a lot happier. And I thought, ‘Oh. Good. I’ll write a song about it!'”  “Happier” was co-written by OneRepublic‘s Ryan Tedder.

At the end of the interview, though, puppet Ed reveals, “I’m gonna continue working on the next album and I’m touring until the end of 2019.”  Considering that Ed only has dates scheduled through November of 2018, it appears we can look forward to many more tour announcements from the singer.

As for that next album, it’ll be the follow-up to Ed’s multi-million-selling album, Divide.  He’s already hinted that it’ll be more of a “lo-fi indie album,” but stay tuned.
