Ed Sheeran, Pink, Imagine Dragons win at Germany’s ECHO Awards

Greg WilliamsEd Sheeran‘s winning streak continues.  After scooping awards at an Australian music awards ceremony, he’s now conquered a similar ceremony in Germany.

As Billboard reports, Ed was the big winner at the German ECHO Music Awards — Germany’s version The Grammys — held Thursday in Berlin.  He won trophies for Album of the Year, for Divide; Hit of the Year, for “Shape of You”; and International Artist  He wasn’t able to attend, however, because he’s on tour in Japan.

Also at the ceremony, Alice Merton, who was born in Germany, was named National Female Pop Artist for her hit “No Roots.”  Imagine Dragons was named International Band of the Year for their album Evolve, while Pink won International Female Artist for her album, Beautiful Trauma.  Luis Fonsi was named International Newcomer, thanks to “Despacito.”

Shawn Mendes and Alice Merton performed on the awards show, and Liam Payne and Rita Ora sang their 50 Shades Freed duet, “For You.”
