ABC/ Heidi Gutman“Despacito” may no longer be on top of the Billboard Hot 100, but people are still watching the video like crazy.  The clip for the Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee song has become the first video in YouTube history to reach four billion views.

The “Despacito” clip was also the first YouTube video ever to reach three billion views, which it did in just 203 days.  The four billion mark was achieved in 270 days. By comparison, Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” just hit ONE billion views, and it took her more than five years to achieve that number.

“Despacito” averages over 14 million daily views, and is currently the most-viewed video of the year in more than 45 countries, from Mexico to Greece.

The “Despacito” clip was filmed in the La Perla neighborhood of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and sadly, the area has now been almost completely destroyed by Hurricane Maria.

On Thursday, “Despacito” received three American Music Award nominations, including one for Video of the Year.
