ABC Radio(NEW YORK) — Freeform’s young-superhero drama Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger scored a huge debut last week, with more than 1.6 million TV viewers and 7.3 million views across all digital platforms.

It was the Disney-owned network’s most-watched show since the Pretty Little Liars finale in 2017.

Cloak and Dagger was also a hit on social media, with 112,000 engagements across social media platforms.

Based on the Marvel comics characters that debuted in 1982, the show centers on Tandy and Tyrone, played respectively by Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph. They’re two teenagers who find themselves burdened with mysterious superpowers — and after they meet, they find they both share a dangerous bond.

Tandy, as Dagger, can produce powerful light beams from her hands and craft daggers of light energy.  Her counterpart Tyrone, as Cloak, can vanish into darkness.

As for those superpowers, the stars had to rely on some real-life heroes to bring them to life: the special effects artists. “[S]eeing the final product is just so amazing,” Joseph tells ABC Radio.

Holt adds, “It was really interesting, too, because…being on set you’re a little nervous, because you’re like, ‘I don’t know what this is going to look like.’ And you know, our special effects team was amazing with helping us, especially like with our reactions, because we weren’t sure exactly…how in post[-production] it was going to turn out.”

Cloak and Dagger airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. on Freeform, which, like ABC News, is owned by Disney.
