Bazzi got rejected from “The Voice” and “America’s Got Talent” before hitting it big

BryantWith his chart-topping hit song “Mine” and an MTV Video Music Award nomination for Best New Artist, Bazzi is enjoying some hard-earned success.

It’s hard to believe that not long ago he was trying out for singing competition shows hoping to make it big – and getting rejected.

“I tried out for The Voice and I also tried out for America’s Got Talent and both them like reached out to me,” Bazzi explains to ABC Radio. “I had like little singing video on YouTube and they were like, ‘Come out for an audition.’”

“I did and I got a callback for both of them actually and, uh, didn’t get anything after that. I was so heartbroken. But look at me now!” he laughs.

The 20-year-old, birth name Andrew Bazzi, didn’t let the rejection sidetrack him for long. In fact, he considers it a vital part of his journey towards success.

“Always trust the process,” he says. “I’m a firm believer in that. You know, you keep your eyes on the destination and of course there will always be detours but if you’re moving towards it, you will always get there.”

Bazzi is currently in the middle of his Cosmic North American tour.
