Avicii, who was born Tim Bergling, died last Friday at age 28.

“We would like to thank you for the support and the loving words about our son and brother. We are so grateful for everyone who loved Tim’s music and have precious memories of his songs,” the family said in a statement provided to ABC Radio.

“Thank you for all the initiatives taken to honor Tim, with public gatherings, church bells ringing out his music, tributes at Coachella and moments of silence around the world,” the statement continues. “We are grateful for the privacy during this difficult time. Our wish is that it continues that way.”

Following the EDM superstar’s death, everyone from Madonna and The Chainsmokers to Charlie Puth and Adam Lambert took to Twitter to express their grief at his loss.

According to Variety, fellow EDM star Kygo paid tribute to Avicii at Coachella this past weekend by showing his image on video screens while the song “Without You” played. The screens also featured the message “Rest in peace. We will miss you.”

Other acts who performed tributes to Avicii this past weekend during concerts included Nick Jonas and OneRepublic.

Bergling was found dead in his hotel room in the Middle Eastern country of Oman. The cause of death is not yet known, though the “Wake Me Up” artist had been in poor health for some time.
