On Thursday, the one-year anniversary of the devastating Grenfell Tower fire in London, Adele paid tribute to the victims.
The singer was seen singing Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me” along with the crowd who’d gathered at the base of the 20-story Grenfell Tower apartment building. Participants included survivors and those who lost loved ones in the tragedy, as well as award-winning British rapper Stormzy.
Following the blaze last year, which claimed the lives of 72 people, Adele immediately pitched in to help. The day after the fire, she visited the scene and spoke to the victims and the firefighters. At her London concert last year, she urged fans to donate to the Grenfell survivors. She also hosted a private movie screening for some of the children who’d survived.
In December, Adele attended a national memorial service for the victims, along with Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince Harry and around 1,500 other attendees at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral.
