Adam Levine doesn’t want his daughters going from “the sandbox to the stage”

Art Streiber/NBCAdam Levine isn’t aiming to be a stage dad to his daughters, Dusty Rose and Gio.

The singer and Voice coach tells Entertainment Tonight he’s not sure he supports children going into show business at a young age.

When asked if he’d ever judge a version of The Voice for kids, Adam says, “I don’t know if I fully support the idea of having little kids be on TV singing. I never have. I think you should get to grow up a little bit, a little bit. I’m talking like a little bit before teens.”

Right now, one-year-old Dusty and two-month-old Gio are too young to even think about pursuing a career in music, and Adam says he’s not about to have them go from “the sandbox to the stage.”

“Always encourage people’s, your kids’, passions,” he adds. “Maybe just not throw them on TV the first chance you get.”

As for at what age he’d support his kids pursuing a career in showbiz, Adam says, “I think maybe not literally, like, six. That’s kind of where I’m thinking, where I draw the line. Maybe you gotta be like 12 first.”
